... and yet another but much inferior literary allusion: Dorothy Parker wrote of a dance partner who stepped on her feet a lot, that, rather than dancing with him she'd like to be "in a midnight fire at sea" (though not out loud to him).

Ship at sea on fire! I am sure that happened to many of them and i feel that this piece evokes true sense of the demise that must have been experienced!
